Bou Sra Waterfall, Mondulkiri

Bou Sra Waterfall, also known as Busra Waterfall, is a popular destination for day trippers located in Mondulkiri Province close to the border with Vietnam. The closest major town to Bou Sra Waterfall is Krong Saen Monourom, and this where most long distance services to Mondulkiri Province terminate.

About Bou Sra Waterfall

Bou Sra Waterfall is a three stage waterfall. The first two stages are easily accessible, however, at the present time there is no safe path up to the third stage and we don’t recommend trying to reach it, particularly given the lack of a good hospital in the vicinity if you do end up having an accident. The first tier of the waterfall is 8 to 12 meters tall, depending upon whether its dry or rainy season. The second tier is more spectacular, with a drop of 18 to 25 metres, again depending on the season. The third tier, which few people visit, has a smaller drop of around 4 metres with much faster flowing water.

Some visitors find the journey difficult on a rented motorbike for this reason. The Bou Sra Waterfall is located within the Bousra Eco Park, which charges an entrance fee of $2.50 for foreign visitors. The Bousra Eco Park has a car park, a food and drink shop, and a picnic area, as well as well defined trails leading to the first and second stages of the waterfall, which are about 150 metres apart. Many visitors, particularly domestic tourists, bring their own supplies of food and drink as what you can buy on site is limited and more expensive than outside the park. The Bosura Eco Park has 7 ziplines, one of which goes over the waterfall at a height of 100 metres above ground level making it the highest zipline in Cambodia. The ‘zipline tour’ offered at the park takes 2 hours, and includes a guided tour, for the price of $50 per person. Whilst in the area many visitors also take the opportunity to visit the village of Bou Sra which has some interesting traditional straw roofed huts and a local cloth weaving centre.
