About Sihanoukville
Cambodia’s most popular beach resort is Sihanoukville. Sihanoukville town is developing fast and it attracts a large number of Asian tourists, particularly Chinese tourists. Many of the restaurants and hotels focus on Chinese tourists. Other foreign visitors, particularly European and North American visitors tend to prefer staying near the beach. Otres Beach is the most ‘bohemian’ area in Sihanoukville and probably the best place to head to if you are not a Chinese tourist. Otres beach is a 4 km stretch of white sand with some very cheap bungalows for rent and backpacker style bars and restaurants.

Another option is to visit Koh Rong, which is an island 25 km by sea from Sihanoukville. You can take a variety of different boat and ferry services from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong. The fastest ferries do the journey in 40 minutes whilst the slower boat services take upton 2 hours 30 minutes. The main attraction of Koh Rong is it beaches, 43 km of them in total. There are no roads on Koh Rong so you need to either walk around or take a boat around the coast. There are though lots of places to stay and places to eat and drink. This is much better place to enjoy the beach in Cambodia than Sihanoukville itself.
