It is becoming increasingly popular for visitors to Takeo to take a motorbike ($5 USD) or bicycle ($2 USD) with them on the train from Phnom Penh to Takeo to use for local travel to the archaeological sites most of which are located 20 to 30 minutes by road from Takeo Railway Station.
Takeo Train Station
Takeo Railway Station is a small train station near a small town in rural Cambodia which has recently been reopened after more than 10 years with train passenger services. Passenger train services are slowly starting to bring more tourism to Takeo and little by little tourist facilities at the train station are improving. Tuk tuk drivers have started operating out of the station offering tours to nearby attractions and food vendors eagerly await the eight times a week when a train full of several hundred people stops for around 10 minutes to allow the passengers to walk around, buy food, take photographs and smoke cigarettes. The station is very quiet and not staffed on the days of the week when the trains are not running.

The station has a single train platform, which works well enough at the moment as no two trains are ever scheduled to be in the train station at the same time. Takeo Railway Station will, however, need to be expanded if the frequency of rail services dramatically increases.
