Preah Vihear Temple is a Hindu temple built bit by bit over a 200 year period from 10th to 12th Centuries, therefore pre-dating the more famous Angkor Wat. The most special thing about Preah Vihear Temple is that it is built on a large hill on the one side of which is a cliff with stunning view over the Cambodian countryside. Preah Vihear Temple is on the border with Thailand, but because of disputes between the two countries over sovereignty of the area around the temple it is only accessible from the Cambodian side. A proper road has now been built all the way to the temple, but be warned it is very steep and you may not want to drive there by yourself.
